Michelle Lea started singing professionally at the age of 10. She opened her bedroom window
and sang to the animals in the woods behind her house. She said it
was "because the Animals were her audience". Michelle has been wowing audiences
ever since.

At the age of 12 Michelle earned second place
at the 2002 Radio Disney Superstar Contest. This was a city wide
contest in and around the Kansas City area.
Michelle Lea auditioned for Nashville in January of
2008 at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City. Out of nearly 600 who
auditioned that day she was one of 40 who made it to the second round.
From there she was selected as a Regional Finalist. To get to this
spot she had gotten past 24,000 contestants. Michelle then went
to Nashville to compete against 50 or so Regional Finalists who got to
audition in front of a line of about 6,000 Open Call contestants.

Michelle Lea was moved by the Tsunami which hit
South-East Asia in December of 2004. She went to her parents to
see if she could do a benefit variety show to raise money to help people
affected by the tsunami. Once she was made aware of the commitment
needed to put on such a show she was all for getting the job done. She
first contacted many friends to volunteer. She then contacted Johnny
Rowlands with KMBC TV 9 to ask him to MC the event and he agreed. She
then contacted Senator Victor Callahan to bring everyone together to produce
a commercial to air on Comcast Cable. to have a commercial produced to help
spread the word about this event and entertainment expected. Middle
Creek Opry Band was the House Band for this event. Special guests
included Blue 88, Phaze II, Terry Meggleson - Magician and comic Aaron
Gnirk. T-shirts were made, concessions and even raffles were a part of
this event. Although Comcast gave this event a good run on cable and the
local paper "The Examiner" wrote numerous stories about this event, less
than 200 people came to the event. However, she still raised over
1,300 dollars for tsunami relief. The funny part of this story is that
less than six months later Michelle was a guest singer for a Hurricane
relief benefit and she raised $1,500 for just singing three songs.
